Setup: The gold nameplate on the door reads "Victoria Alexis Chamberland, Ph.D, LL.D. Owner-Noctem Eterna, et. al." As you enter a large corner office in Downtown Pittsburgh, Victoria is seated behind a large mahogany desk in an expensive-looking large Italian leather chair. Victoria is simultaneously arguing with someone on the phone, writing in her day planner, and typing on the computer. She looks up as you walk in and motions for you to sit in the chair across from her. As you look around the office, you notice many expensive antiques and artwork, almost as though she lived here. She hurriedly gets off the phone with the line, "Just get it done. I don't care
how, just do it," turns off that phone, turns off her computer, and
places her day planner in her desk. She then pulls out her cell phone
and places it on her desk.
All right, I managed to squeeze you in between my 9:30 and my 10:00
appointments. You're lucky one of them cancelled. Businesses don't run
themselves, you know. Neither do cities, both of which are why the cell phone is on. *a business handshake is exchanged* Victoria Alexis Chamberland, Ph.D.,LL.D. You aren't a paparazzi, are you? I hate those guys. If so, I'll just have my bodyguard Burke acquaint you with the door. Same if you are Sabbat, unrecognized, an ex-client, an ex-partner, or any one of my seven ex-husbands.
No? All right. I'll talk to you, then. I am Ventrue Primogen in the small town of Morgantown, WV, and Prince of this fine city of Pittsburgh. I took up the Primogenship because there was no one there worthy of it and the Prince wanted my help. I suppose you want to know where I came from, what I've done, how I got stuck in this sort of life. Well, just sit back and I'll tell you the whole story.
I was born in upstate New York. My father was a powerful attorney and my mother helped him on his cases. Needless to say, I grew up quite wealthy. The only child of one of the most influential families in the country, I was immediately ushered into an exclusive private school for girls and graduated with a 4.0+ GPA, Valedictorian, class president, Homecoming Queen and Prom Queen. The year I graduated was the same year Harvard began allowing women in their institution. I was offered a full ride from Yale, Harvard, Cambridge, and Columbia. Though I didn't need it, I took the ride from Harvard. In record time, I graduated from Harvard's Business and Law Schools, simultaneously, Magna Cum Laude in both, and top of the class in both. Soon thereafter, I moved to Los Angeles where...
*ring*
Shit! Hold on a minute.
"Victoria Chamberland. uh-huh. Trinity! I thought I told you to...oh. All right. Isn't Toye there? Where's he at? You two are supposed to BOTH be there at all times while the club is open. Get someone to take care of it and let me know how much it's going to cost. Yes, I'll cover it. Call me tomorrow night. I'm kinda busy right now. No, not like that. I'm not like you Malkavians. I only use it to get what I want. Yeah. Later.
*she hangs up the phone*
Sorry about that. That was the manager from my club in DC. She's a little nutty, if you know what I mean. She a good kid, though. Anyway, where was I? Oh, yes. I moved out to LA, and with my credentials, was immediately snapped up by the biggest firm in the United States. I worked there for a few years, and eventually left to start my own firm, which became even better than the other one. It was there that I met this dark fate.
I have tried some of the biggest cases ever to hit the papers in this country, and have won most of them. Can't win 'em all, you know. I'd say I had about a 95.9% win ratio. Not too shabby, if I do say so myself. Then he walked into my office. He seemed no different than any of my other clients, but that was from sight alone. Not entirely sure how he knew I'd be in my office after 9:00, I was a bit nervous. However, I took his case. Something about being framed for a bizarre murder case. When I asked him to meet with me the next day, he became nervous and said he had an extreme phobia of being out during the day. Now that was a fun one to get around the judge. Nonetheless, I obtained documented proof of this and the trial was held at night. It turned into one of the biggest cases in history. After 254 days, I finally won hands-down. How cool is that? I bid the gentleman farewell and hoped to never see him again. He was way too creepy for me. However, he did have this aura of gracefulness and intrigue about him. About a week later, I returned home from the office and was...
*ring**for a moment, Victoria looks like she's going to throw the phone across the room. Instead, she answers it*
"Victoria Chamberland. From where? New York? Yes, I'll accept. This better be good, Julian. A RAID? On my club? Well, get someone with contacts in the police department to straighten this out. You're WHERE? In JAIL??? Fine, hold on. *she sets her cell phone down and turns on the desk phone* "Jarod? Yes, Victoria Chamberland. Fine, and you? Listen, can you be a dear and go to New York? Yup, Julian's screwed up AGAIN! Uh-huh. In jail. Yeah, there was a raid at my club. You are such a doll. Call me love. Later *turns off the desk phone and picks up her cell phone*
"Julian? Jarod's on his way. Yeah, he'll help you this time. You better be careful or you're going to loose your job, and don't say you owe me one Later.
*hangs up the cell phone*
Anyway, as I was saying, I returned home from the office and was jumped from behind in my house. I don't remember much, just looking and seeing my client's face, and then everything was black. Next thing I remember, I woke up in my walk-in closet. I fumble for the light and look at my watch. It read 8:30pm. I hurriedly got dressed and ran out of the house. I cursed myself all the way to work for missing an entire workday. I was quite a workaholic. Still am, actually. When necessary, I'll conduct business over the phone from my house in the middle of the day. What can I say? Work comes first. Anyway, when I got to work, it didn't seem like anyone was there, so I let myself in, went straight to my office, and started reviewing my current case file. I then heard a large crash from my partner's office. I grabbed my pistol and went to investigate. When I arrived, I saw my client cradling the limp body of my partner. Bewilderedly, I stood there and he told me to not worry, but to go back in my office and wait for him. I was so shocked, I couldn't do anything but obey. I sat in my office and waited. About fifteen minutes later, he came in and handed me a goblet. I drank quickly as he explained what he had done to me the night before
*ring**this time, Victoria actually picks up the cell phone, pulls back, and, thinking better of it, answers it*
"Victoria Chamberland. Oh, hi, Jonathon. WHAT? Do we know who did it? OK, Camarilla meeting at my office in fifteen minutes Contact EVERYONE and make sure they're all here. On time, too. You know I hate it when people are late. All right. See you in fifteen minutes. Later.
*hangs up her cell phone*
Sorry. That was my Seneschal. There seems to be trouble in paradise right now. Anyway, that's about all there is to tell about that. He died not too long after that, so there's not much left to say about him. After realizing it would be difficult to handle a job as a lawyer in my current state, I decided to put that business degree to some use. I moved out here to Pittsburgh and started my own chain of nightclubs- Noctem Eterna. I now have clubs in all the major cities, and some of the smaller cities, in the United States, a few in Canada, a few in Mexico, and one in all of the major cities in Europe. I came into the princedom here in Pittsburgh about seven years ago, and have been commuting to Morgantown once a week for several months now. That's about all there is to say. Well, my people will be coming soon, so I should get ready. I hope I've given you all the information you wanted.
*as you leave, Burke keeps a close eye on you until you are well out of sight*
